Military dads

Sunday was Father's day. (I'm sure you are all aware) As you all know my husband (and subsequently the father of my children) is currently deployed. On Father's day someone said something that all in one second, upset, angered and saddened me. Even though I know the words were not meant in the way they were received, and there was no malice or intent to offend, they stung none-the-less. Since then I have been really thinking / dwelling on WHAT is a Military dad, and what is his role? Granted I do feel like a single parent at times. Times generally when all 4 kids have 4 different activities in 4 different locations, yet all starting at precisely the same time.. :) However I am never alone in my parenting plight. Whereas his role changes while he is deployed, obviously he can't take Paige to soccer practice, or run Garrett to get stitches, but he is always present. Every moment of my child's life regardless of circumstances, they have always known that their...

Ripley's got NOTHING on me

EAGLE'S BELIEVE IT or NOT   Which of these events have actually happened in the Eagle household. Can you decide which are facts, and which were made up by my completely scattered brain?? Believe it... or Not.... All four Eagle children once fell with in 2 minutes of each other, all in different rooms, doing different things, 2 required stitches. Connor grew 7 inches in one school year. While swimming in a public pool Paige lost her contact.. about 10 minutes later.. she found it. I got pulled over while driving through Texas, turns out I knew the guy! (no ticket) I once sat next to Lenny Baker from ShaNaNa in a airplane and had no clue who he was. Between my 4 kids, 6 different instruments are played, 2 of which you probably have never heard of. Garrett learned the Pythagorean theorem in kindergarten. Since 1994 we have housed over 25 animals.  I've won tickets to 15 concerts, 4 circuses, 2 monster truck rallies, 3 trips to various amusement parks, and more sportin...

random ranting, raving, rationalizing, rambling, and rabbits

The casualty toll in the Eagle house for this month is rather high, so far things that have broken in May include (but are not necessarily limited to) the following: 1 laptop computer 1desktop computer 1 van 1 car battery 1 car hood latch 2 t.v's 2 cabinets and one drawer my sanity.. Tonight both Paige and Tanner had band concerts at the exact same time at two different schools. Somehow I miraculous was able to see them both perform! I have learned this week that struts breaking are BAD! Also when it SOUNDS like the tire is falling off your car.. it really might be! Shock Top is my current favorite beer.. which is weird for me since it is not thick black and can't be eaten with a fork. I am counting the SECONDS til June 30th!! I AM SO EXCITED I have lost 10lbs of my 60 by labor day... (so far the all stress diet is working out great) I still haven't seen the new Pirate movie!! It's just wrong! My poor Johnny must think I have forgotten him! I'v...

Once upon a life...

The story you are about to read is true.. the names have been changed to protect the innocent. It was a dark and stormy night, only it was sunny and about 4:30, and our heroine of this story (we'll call her "Amy") was driving her children home from church. (We'll call these children, Connor, Paige, Tanner and Garrett)  Suddenly there was a "POP" followed by a "CRACK" followed by a somewhat disturbing knocking noise.  When I (err I mean "Amy") drove straight and didn't make any left turns, the noise ceased. Problem solved no turning... The next morning, things did not go so smoothly... While driving home from school the POP and CRACK were joined with a whirring, a crunching and a very unnerving jiggling.  This clearly was an issue!! After limping the car home, it was decided that it was CLEARLY undriveable.  Fortunately for our fearless hero she had her husbands car! Now her husband ,we'll call him Daniel, was deployed in what ...

Conversations with my kids..

*radio playing* - ./` Let's burn the roof... ./`  Garrett- "Well that seems like an extreme renovation" ----------------------- Garrett - " My teacher won't let me go to the nurse's office anymore, she says I go too much" me - "Well what does that tell you?" Garrett- " That I should ask Mr. Edwards during P.E.??" ----------------------- Connor - " We just have this project thing we are doing on Les Mis" Me - " Have you read it?" Connor - "uhhh Read it?? It's a play. " Me - "yes.. Have. You. Read. It??" Connor - " I know all I need to know.. Guy steals bread, goes to jail for a long time, chic dies at the end" -----------------------

Thoughts that I think

So here I sit with a million thoughts in my head, and as per normal I am going to just spew them all out here in absolutely no order with no rhyme or reason.. I really hate going to the dentist.. but I get to have like 6 appts worth to fix this one fargin tooth! Slinkies amaze me I am hoping to join the Derby Dolls with my friend Julann.. she kicks serious ass. I had a great weekend in Arizona. I glued my pants to my leg.... alcohol may have been involved. I really look up to my brother (and not just because he's taller than me) and OLDER.. MUCH OLDER. I have spent a lot of time trying to change, become a better me.. well I'm done with that.. take me or leave me, I am who I am.. I think this may fall under the old dogs new tricks addage. I'm not as strong as I pretend to be, but probably stronger than I think I am. I might start sewing again (but shh don't tell anyone) I call my mom almost every day. I think the Navy should let us stay in San Diego....

Always good to have a plan

So today while I was emailing my husband (this is the part where I am grateful that communication is back up and that we have email opposed to the old fashion wait three weeks for a letter way.) He had asked me to get something in the mail this week...... Me- Ok I will do that probably tomorrow.. I have dentist appts.. dr appts.. work... insanity... my nervous breakdown.. all planned for tomorrow.  So I will let you know. . him -  Thank You.  As for scheduling your nervous breakdown....I guess that way it doesn't come as a surprise!  I figure it's good to have a plan.
