It's not just a job, it's an adventure...

So on the way to school this morning a "join the military change the world"  type commercial came on the radio... Now as you may all guess, I am a fairly big supporter of the military, so no disrespect is meant by this at all. The commercial had a man (presumably solider) talking about joining the military.  I was totally with him until he said "one day I was in uniform getting gas, and a woman who was a total stranger came up and hugged me... that's what it's all about" ummmmmmm THAT'S what it's all about?? Random hugs?? Not defending freedom, being part of the glue that binds this country, protecting the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of  happiness? Nope.. being in the military is all about getting hugs from random chics at gas stations... I know that's why Daniel joined...

thoughts that I think

I have a bunch of random things flowing through my brain.. as per normal, so here is one of them. I had an epiphany the other day at 2 a.m. while standing in a public restroom. (odd place I know.) I was staring into a mirror watching much younger women scurry in and out and I really saw myself.  Not a cursory glance to see if my hair was sticking up or if there was broccoli in my teeth, I mean a deep looked into my soul moment. I always seem to be waiting on something. When X is over I'll have more time.. or if I just quit doing Y this will be better.  Once the kids are a little older, once summer comes, once summer is over, and it hit me!!  I have been waiting for the wrong things.  I THOUGHT I was waiting for things that haven't happened yet.. but in actuality I don't think I was.  I was really waiting for life to regress. I was waiting to suddenly wake up and be 24 again and weigh 120lbs and have more energy and less wrinkles, have a more positive outlo...

Turkey Trot or giant goose egg???

Image
Today was our schools annual turkey trot. Every year the winners in each grade get a turkey , well that's how it USED to be.  From what I understand, from the powers that be, the turkey trot, is now a "fun run" with no winners, because it was creating too much competition. Really?? REALLY?? soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo We can't give awards for academic achievement because the kids who aren't as smart will feel bad. We can't give awards for athletic achievement because the kids who aren't as athletic will feel bad. I think my boys summed it up this morning... Tanner - "It's not even a turkey trot anymore, it was the TURKEY trot, because you could win a TURKEY" Garrett - "This year it's a disappointment trot"

Yep I made it HALF just half the way through the month of blogging everyday.  Which is sorta impressive. I missed yesterday... I had ever intent of blogging... Movie snacks

Image
Going to the movies, especially as a family of 6 can add up pretty quickly. Here in "America's finest city" of San Diego a movie ticket will run you around $11.00.  Now  times that by 6 and then add another 50 bucks in popcorn.. yah I don't feel too bad to admit, that I sneak in movie snacks. I know shocking.. but I do. I break a rule.. *GASP* We even have a blue hobo bag, that my kids call the "movie purse". A quick run through Target and we have plenty of suckers and crackers to get through a movie. No problems. Everyone happy, I save money on popcorn. win win Last night Connor went to the movies with some of his friends. Keeping in tradition, he went to one of the stores in the mall to get snacks. I have no issues there (movie food should be cheaper). He spent last night at his friend's house.  This morning when he came home he brought his leftover movie snacks with him. I am amazed at what  he was able to sneak in. Either A) they just don...

Bullying

Image
We have had to deal with bullying  this year, poor Tanner has been subject to a lot of stupidity by a particular child in his class.  Despite my deepest desires to grab this little snot munchkin and shake the ever living daylights out of him, I've been advised that this is in fact frowned upon and would look bad since I do kinda work at the school.  (side note* said administration better get off it's hiney) breathe breathe breathe... but I digress.... This blog post however,  is actually about an anti bullying skit my daughter helped write for a troop project for girl scouts, and they performed last night. Paigey played one of the mean girls.  I was very proud of them. All four of the girls in Paige's troop have dealt with bullying themselves at some level.  They all wrote various parts of the skits.  They had a little discussion period  at the end with the younger girls that they were performing for. It was really neat. The skit was funny a...

shopping days shopping days just 43 days till Christmas

Image
(if you are from Show Low,  then you're welcome,  you'll be singing that commercial all day) :) Christmas is drawing nearer, and at this time of the year all of the catalogs, toy flyers, sales adds ect.. are quickly snatched by my youngest children.  They then, circle the items they want for Christmas.  Now I do tell them that "just because they circle it, does not mean they will absolutely get it", it just gives me ideas of what they like. I'm so very happy that I made that disclaimer...   on a side note : I need to look and see if  the 99cent store has a Christmas Catalog.

Image
I have a bit of a deep love for goodwill.  I always find great/cheap/pretty much new cool stuff there. I have found awesome things,  like this purse and this one.. aka my "Oach" as well as so much other absolutely  faboo stuff... but nothing and I mean NO THING will ever be as great of a find as this yes folks it's in a sealed original box It's ok to be jealous.

I am sad when my friends are sad

Love you always till the end so very blessed that you're my friends I LOVE YOU WENDI AND SHANNON!!

a funny thing happened on the way to the DMV

Daniel checked into his new command this week. Prior to this we needed to go get his car's registration renewed.  The hurdle that needed jumping was in order to attain said registration we had to get his car smogged.  Daniel's car is a tad bit on the old side and passing the smog test has proven to be not super easy. (Made less easy when one lets afore mentioned car sit without running it for most of a year). We tried to do some home maintenance in preparation, and then just hoped and prayed it would pass. Daniel called to let me know that MIRACULOUSLY the car passed smog!! Oh happy day! :) He was off to the DMV to register it.  Finished up at the DMV then headed home... ... that's when the fuel pump broke. Silver lining.. we don't have to worry about smog for a few more years! :) isn't it ironic.. don't ya think? (on a side note.. don't take your car to Pepboys.. what awful customer service!)

I Vow..

I Amy Eagle being of no mind and reasonably sound body to solemnly vow to: ... take better care of my vehicles so they stop breaking ... take better care of my body so it stops breaking ... to read more ... to listen more (I would say talk less, but lets be honest.. it can't be done) ... to be a better wife ... pray more ... play more ... care less ( and not in a selfish way, in a "I worry too much about how others perceive me" way) ... make sure my kids floss ... to move out of housing with-in the next 15 months ... do something out of character .... be me in all situations ... to be a better mom ...to teach Smokey how to do... SOMETHING good ... to NOT volunteer for anything new ... to DEvolunteer from a few current obligations ... to not skip my dr. appointments ... to be just a little bit more awesome each day.

parenting.... things that make you go uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Random useless facts about me

Because I have nothing horribly interesting to write about today, I will be writing completely useless, random, and most likely already known facts about myself 1. I am almost 37, but unintentionally lie about my age ALL the time. My brain froze at 32.. and often that is still what comes out when people ask... not sure why. 2. I REALLY like bacon. I liked bacon WELL before it was cool to like bacon.. I think I invented liking bacon. 3. After listening to Dr.Oz I think I may be suffering from perimenopausal rage.. (actually it would be the people around me who are suffering) 4. I love board games.. finding people to play with me is the hard part. 5. It took me over 20 years to realize what "little red corvette" was about.. and you may all be surprised to know it's NOT about a car. 6. I randomly write the word "penis" on Laurie and Jules's face book walls. This started several years ago, I can't remember why.. yep deep down inside.. I'm 12....

Giving thanks

The learning curve

Happy November! You know what that means??? It's NATIONAL BLOG POSTING MONTH!! Which means that in the hopes of winning fabulous prizes, I will be blogging every day in the month of November.  That and I like to ramble on about nothing. :) First rambling will be Things I've learned recently: Waaaay too much about boy parts I like to help when there is a need, but there comes a time when one is filling a need that no longer exists. So I have decided to walk away from something that I've been involved in for a long time, but it's a good thing! (and don't worry Kristen it's not Awana) :) There is moisture inside popcorn kernels! I have the most amazing life ever! (ok I didn't just learn that) it amazes me! How did I get so lucky? :) I over share (which some misconstrue as other things.. I need to share less.. but man I love to talk) :) I can't juggle (only schedules).. ouch Car batteries can die and your lights can still work.. weird hu...
